Vita

Michael Kunkel studied law in Passau and Kiel (Germany) as well as in Dublin (Ireland) and carried out his legal training in Frankfurt am Main (Germany). He was admitted to the German Bar in 2006, following which he worked for eight years in the legal department of an international construction group in Essen (Germany), where he advised the project development department on numerous construction projects in Germany and abroad, in particular, on the acquisition of properties, the conclusion of leases, the awarding of construction and planning contracts, the formation of project companies and joint ventures, and the sale of projects by way of an asset or share deal. Whilst working, he pursued postgraduate studies in “Real Estate Law” at the University of Münster (Germany), which he successfully completed with a Master’s degree (LL.M.). Michael Kunkel joined Luther in 2014.

  • Advising Instone Real Estate Development GmbH on the sale of 104 rented apartments in the Düsseldorf ‘Wohnen im Hochfeld’ district (residential space that is subject to price-curbing measures, publicly subsidised and unsubsidised residential space, commercial space and a day care centre). The purchaser is a large German owner of residential space.
  • Advising Instone Real Estate Development GmbH on the sale of 139 rented apartments in the Bonn west.side area. In this area, a total of 550 rented and owner-occupied apartments will be created.
  • Advising Instone Real Estate Development GmbH on the sale of 221 rented apartments (residential space that is subject to price-curbing measures, publicly subsidised and unsubsidised residential space and a day-care centre)
  • Advising Lang & Cie. Rhein-Ruhr Real Estate AG on the RWE Campus I and II project in Essen
  • Advising Peach Property Group (Deutschland) AG on the acquisition of 528 rented apartments, primarily in Essen and Dortmund
