Legal Design: Design processes & identify potentials

Legal Design is an approach to dealing with and solving complex challenges from a user’s perspective. By analysing, designing and optimising processes and workflows, the Luther.Solutions experts develop concepts that lead to more efficient handling of tasks within the organisation or when carrying out a client mandate.

In workshops, discussions as well as through evaluated documents, the potential is jointly identified and recommendations for implementation are made. Current and future processes within the organisation or the client mandate are mapped together with concrete, evaluated recommendations and options for action. The goal is to increase efficiency, quality and transparency in the handling of tasks. In many cases, one element of success is the support of processes and procedures by digital services and/or the automation of workflows. In the next step, “Legal Tech”, the IT potential identified is worked out in detail, programmed by our specialists, if required, and implemented in the existing areas of work.

Subject areas

  • Performing a strategy review to align the resulting requirements for the area
  • Creating a uniform process architecture (process house)
  • Recording and analysing the relevant processes and work steps
  • Defining the value added by the work steps
  • Identifying the potential for efficiency increase (through design, automation or introduction of legal tech elements)

Our Services

Luther.Legal Design – Creating innovations in a team

Corporate legal departments are confronted with a variety of challenges: assessing new technologies or business models, increasing regulatory density and stringent compliance and risk management requirements. They are required to provide legal support for the process of change initiated in their company as well as proactively shape their own transformation. Innovations in the legal department help to boost efficiency and create scope for the team to focus on strategic activities. With “Luther.Legal Design: Innovation”, we provide a proven process model for shaping innovation based on a user-centric approach.

Luther.Legal Design – Process efficiency for the legal department

Digitalisation is transforming processes and procedures in companies in an extraordinary way. In light of the requirements resulting from these transformations, legal departments and legal service providers need to find new ways to exchange information and knowledge, and also for collaborating and networking. With Luther.LegalDesign – Workflow, we can provide a proven approach to modelling and designing legal workflows, processes and services.

Using a holistic approach, we combine legal expertise with a proven method of designing and modelling processes or workflows and can work with you to develop efficient processes and services for your company in line with user requirements. We combine business requirements, technology and user experience in a proven manner to create new or improved services.

Luther.Workflow Automation

As digitalisation advances, the processes and procedures used in law firms and legal departments are changing. In light of increasing demands from the individual areas, we need to break new ground as regards networking and the exchange of information. Existing processes should be scrutinised at regular intervals and, where necessary, optimised and, to the extent reasonable, automated. With Luther.WorkflowAutomation, we can provide an innovative approach to optimising and automating legal workflows and processes and make use of a ground-breaking digital instrument: robotic process automation (RPA).

The objective of this approach is to question the efficiency of legal processes. Especially daily internal procedures hold great potential for automation. With our process design and automation approach, we can offer integrated advice using innovative technical services: robotic process automation (RPA). The organisational efficiency gains resulting from this can be re-invested in the work on complex legal issues.

Luther.Collaboration – collaboration for legal matters

Digitalisation not only changes processes and working methods in companies, but also the culture of collaboration. In view of these requirements, new ways are needed for the exchange of information, documents and knowledge in the legal context as well as for cooperation and networking between the legal department and corporate divisions and external partners. Luther.Collaboration forms a central building block on the path to digital transformation. With the help of the platform, we are able to handle projects and requests transparently, efficiently and securely.

“Luther.Collaboration” facilitates the efficient and secure exchange of information between all
parties involved, the transfer and exchange of documents in protected areas and transparent
process monitoring. Our collaboration platform received the PMN Management Award for innovative enterprise and business development in 2019.

Luther.Legal Case & Project Management

The emission scandal caused by manipulated diesel engines and the related wave of legal actions against car manufacturers is just one example of the growing number of mass proceedings in the market. In addition to the automotive industry, we anticipate that the health care, telecommunications and media industries and trade will also see a strong increase in mass proceedings in the future. In this context, another important aspect, apart from legal competence, will be the efficient and transparent handling of legal actions.

Especially legal mass proceedings, with their specific requirements for the orchestration of the overall process, require a viable solution for the secure exchange of information, documents and knowledge, the coordination of appointments and meetings, and collaboration among all parties involved in the proceedings. With Luther.Legal Case Management, we have developed a process management tool that has been tested in practice on multiple occasions and which places us in a position to handle these legal mass proceedings efficiently, or to assist our clients efficiently and transparently in their own handling of such

Luther.Legal Project Management

New megatrends are changing business models and, therefore, processes and procedures in companies in an extraordinary way. In light of the increased demand on internal legal departments, enhancing the efficiency of legal project work is just as important as using agile project management methods. Modern project management (PM) methods must be brought in line with the specific needs and be firmly established within the organisation. With Luther.Legal PM, we can provide a tool-based approach to combining modern project management methods with legal requirements.
