Luther secures pioneering technology partnership for Braunschweig Hospital

Braunschweig, 25.01.2024 – Siemens Healthineers will equip and operate the central laboratory at Braunschweig Municipal Hospital. Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft advised on the contract award and the long-term partnership.

Background

With its concept of an interdisciplinary diagnostics and analysis centre, Braunschweig Hospital stands for innovative diagnostics and state-of-the-art analysis procedures. Infrastructural capacities are being created at the highest level, which will benefit the entire region.

Following a Europe-wide competition, Klinikum Braunschweig has now entered into a long-term technology partnership with Siemens Healthineers for the equipment and technical operation of the centre. As general contractor, Siemens Healthineers will supply the complete medical technology for the digital laboratory and operate it on a manufacturer-independent basis. Once again, this is an excellent example of cooperation between the public sector and industry.

Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft provided the hospital with comprehensive advice on the project. The law firm's market-renowned public procurement law team led by Ulf-Dieter Pape and Dr Henning Holz and the health care specialists Dr Oliver Kairies and Dr Hendrik Bernd Sehy supported the procurement and the search for a partner. Luther was recently recognised as "JUVE Law Firm of the Year 2023 for Public Procurement Law". The law firm is divided into five industry sectors and was able to demonstrate its many years of experience in the Health Care & Life Science sector in this case.

Dr Raimar Goldschmidt, project manager of the hospital and managing director of skbs.digital GmbH, emphasises the importance of the smooth cooperation with Luther: "This further technology partnership advised by Luther sets a milestone in the provision of laboratory medical services at the highest technical level. The general requirements we specified for a co-operation partner were highly complex in terms of content. Luther was able to successfully implement them in such a special procedure as the competitive dialogue, both in compliance with public procurement law and economically."
