With this office in the heart of the Ukrainian capital, Luther is strengthening its international presence and will be able to support clients even more directly in their activities in Ukraine going forward. With Kyiv, Luther now has twelve international offices and a total of 22 offices worldwide.

“With our office in Kyiv, we are consciously taking the lead. We stand alongside our clients who remain committed to Ukraine even in difficult times, and we anticipate significant local economic growth in light of a future ceasefire or peace agreement,” says Dr. Andreas Knaul, office head in Kyiv. “We are preparing for this now so that we can quickly and reliably scale our advisory services as demand increases.”

The new office builds on the firm’s existing presence in Kyiv, which has been in place since April 2025. Since the Ukraine Desk was established in Berlin in January 2023, Luther has already assisted numerous mid-sized companies with market entry in Ukraine and advised them on public procurement procedures. The team’s German and Ukrainian lawyers work both from Germany and on-site in Kyiv. The advisory services are aimed in particular at the firm’s existing clients, who have been working with Luther for many years and are either already active in Ukraine or wish to explore new business opportunities there. At the same time, the on-site presence is also becoming increasingly important for new clients.

High Demand in Healthcare & Life Sciences and Defense in Ukraine

Luther’s expertise is currently in particularly high demand in Kyiv in regulated sectors such as healthcare & life sciences and defense. The expertise of the Luther Defense Task Force is especially valuable in these areas. Companies require support with investments, market entry, regulatory issues, contract drafting, compliance, procurement, supply chains, and other commercial law matters.

By opening this office, Luther is also demonstrating its commitment to Ukraine’s independence and economic future. The firm aims not only to provide legal guidance to clients but also to contribute to supporting the country.
