Mathis Lorenzen advises nationally and internationally active companies from various industries on restructuring and reorganisation. With his expertise in insolvency law, he supports the various stakeholders of a debtor at risk of insolvency both in the run-up to insolvency and during insolvency proceedings. This includes, in particular, the preparation and implementation of self-administration, protective shield and StaRUG proceedings. In addition, he assists in the enforcement or defence of claims under company law and insolvency law, with a focus on managing director liability and insolvency challenges.
Mathis Lorenzen studied law at the Universities of Mannheim (Germany), Wellington (New Zealand) and Heidelberg (Germany) with a focus on (international) business law. He already started gaining practical experience in the field of reorganisation whilst carrying out his legal training at the Regional Court of Mannheim by working as a research assistant in an insolvency law firm.
After starting his career as a lawyer at an international commercial law firm in 2017, he completed a further master’s degree (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property Law at Stellenbosch University (South Africa).
Mathis Lorenzen subsequently worked for a renowned specialist law firm where he provided reorganisation advice, before joining in Luther 2020.
