Jan Hansen primarily advises on company pension schemes, insurance contract law and insurance supervisory law. After studying law and carrying out his legal training in Cologne (Germany), Jan Hansen was admitted to the German Bar in 2017. Before joining Luther, he worked for a Cologne law firm that specialised in insurance and liability law, where he focused on representing life insurers, insurance intermediaries and private and public pension payers in court.

Advised a public-law corporation on the termination of its membership in a municipal pension association and on the restructuring of its old-age pension scheme
Advised a non-profit corporation on the reduction of disproportionately large pension obligations to former managing directors/board members
Advised an association on a dispute regarding the reduction of a pension fund’s actuarial interest rate
Advised a municipal energy supplier on a dispute regarding assessed direct insurance costs
