Oliver Köhler advises companies, shareholders and creditors on restructurings, proceedings under the German Corporate Stabilisation and Restructuring Act and on debtor-in-possession and protective shield proceedings. He regularly advises managing directors and management and supervisory board members on their duties under insolvency law and on how to successfully handle a corporate crisis. In addition, he provides buy-side and sell-side advice during mergers and acquisitions involving insolvent or distressed companies.
Oliver Köhler also has experience in the fields of financial restructuring, non-performing loans and solvent liquidation and in the preparation of insolvency plans.
Furthermore, he has special expertise in assisting foreign – in particular, Anglo-American, Scandinavian and South-East Asian – clients with matters involving German insolvency law and in advising on international insolvency law issues.
Prior to joining Luther, Oliver Köhler worked at the international law firm Allen & Overy in financial restructuring and insolvency law, and at Finkenhof, a law firm that specialised in advising distressed companies.
He gained international experience working with White & Case in New York (USA), at the German Consulate General in Hong Kong and with a medium-sized company in Oslo (Norway).
