Dr. Oliver Maaz is an experienced China expert who has been comprehensively advising foreign companies on legal matters in China for more than 18 years. He regularly advises clients in the fields of real estate and construction law, corporate and M&A, commercial, and foreign direct investments. As a partner of the law firm in Germany, his focus is on legal and tax advisory services with a China-related focus. In his role as Principal Consultant of Luther Solutions (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., he advises on corporate services, which include supporting foreign investors in China with essential corporate processes, operational licenses, corporate governance, and regulatory requirements, as well as market entry and exit strategies and the management of individual projects on-site. As the author of numerous publications, Dr. Oliver Maaz is also a frequent speaker at events on legal issues in China.

Dr Oliver Maaz studied law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (Germany). He has been registered with the bar association since 2003 and completed his doctorate in Germany in 2005. Before joining Luther as a Partner in 2021, he had worked for other international German law firms in Shanghai since 2006. Dr Oliver Maaz has also gained sound professional experience in various industrial sectors from 1986-1996 as he worked for example as logistics specialist at a German car maker in Munich including his commercial education.
