Areas of practice

Dr Christian Rabe specialises in data protection law. His advisory services particularly include examining the permissibility of future data processing activities and examining and assessing the organisation of data protection within companies or groups of companies. Another focus area is IT law (e.g. drafting and negotiating IT contracts, negotiating software licence agreements with large software providers, IT project business). Christian Rabe further advises clients on e-commerce law, copyright and unfair competition law, as well as on freedom-of-expression and press law.

Dr Christian Rabe studied law at the Universities of Hamburg (Germany) and Alicante (Spain) with a focus on information and communication, successfully completing his studies in 2010. He received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg for a thesis on a topic regarding the right to publicly express one’s opinions. Whilst carrying out his legal training at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court, he worked for the Hamburg offices of some international law firms, amongst other. Dr Christian Rabe was admitted to the German Bar at the beginning of 2015. In 2018, he completed the Specialist Lawyer Course in IT Law. Before joining Luther, he worked for the Hamburg offices of some international business law firms in data protection and media law, amongst other areas of law. At Luther, he is a member of the practice group IT law/data protection law.
