Restructuring & Insolvency

Niko Schmitt supports national and international companies from various industries in restructuring situations. His work ranges from advising clients in the run-up to insolvency to providing legal and operational support in self-administration and protective shield proceedings as well as insolvency and restructuring proceedings in accordance with the German Restructuring Act (StaRUG). In addition, he advises companies, management bodies and other decision-makers on legal issues in crisis situations. Another focus is on enforcing and defending against insolvency-specific claims, in particular managing director liability and insolvency challenges.

Vita

Niko Schmitt completed his law degree with a focus on corporate law at the University of Trier. After passing his first state law examination, he gained professional experience as a research assistant in a medium-sized commercial law firm and in the legal department of an international industrial company. Mr. Schmitt completed his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz, spending part of his time at an international commercial law firm in New York City. He was admitted to the bar in 2025.
