Düsseldorf - As of July 16, Dr. Michael Bormann (Partner) will move from Simmons & Simmons to the Düsseldorf office of Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. The corporate specialist comes together with Counsel Marc Urlichs and has special expertise in the energy and infrastructure sector.

"With Dr. Michael Bormann and Marc Urlichs we have won a strong and experienced duo that strengthens our M&A department in Düsseldorf and once again excellently expands our advisory services in the energy sector in transactions," says Dr. Holger Stappert, Head of the Energy Law Practice Group at Luther.

In recent years, Luther has already stepped up its activities for financial investors in projects such as the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project or MEAG's investment in Steag Fernwärme and would like to step up its activities in this segment, with which Dr. Michael Bormann is very familiar. Dr. Michael Bormann is also a partner who has also worked successfully for large municipal energy suppliers, while Luther's energy law team with Bormann's future Düsseldorf M&A partner Dr. Michael Krömker recently advised major energy suppliers such as Eneco, Open Grid Europe or Statkraft on transactions.

"I am very much looking forward to strengthening the Luther team and jointly developing the M&A area," says Dr. Michael Bormann. "At Luther I find an ideal environment in which I can expand my consulting services very well. The firm offers a broad range of services, has enormous regulatory know-how in the energy sector and relies heavily on small and medium-sized enterprises. Most recently, Dr. Bormann headed the German corporate practice of Simmons & Simmons. Among other things, he advised Warsteiner on the sale of the welcome hotel chain and Allianz Renewable Energy Fund 2 on the purchase of a solar park portfolio.

Dr. Michael Bormann specializes in corporate transactions, restructuring and joint ventures in the fields of energy and infrastructure. In addition, he advises on general corporate law issues relating to corporate governance and the raising and maintenance of capital.

Marc Urlichs has been involved in national and international corporate acquisitions for many years. He also specializes in general corporate and commercial law advice, including advice on restructuring and conversion law.
