Luther Sets Up Energy Law Team in Munich

Gerd Stuhlmacher will start as a Partner at the Munich office of Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft on 1 April 2020 where he will set up an energy law team.

Background

Since the beginning of market liberalization, Gerd Stuhlmacher has gained intensive and long-standing experience, particularly in the global energy trading business with electricity, gas, coal or LNG. Besides the structuring of all types of commodity transactions, he focuses on compliance with regulatory requirements of the energy market. He also has first-hand experience in price adjustment disputes before public courts and arbitration courts as well as in restructuring and M&A transactions in the energy sector.

Gerd Stuhlmacher spent a large part of his career in management functions at E.ON Group and Uniper. Through his work with associations and politicians, he has had a direct influence on the developments in energy law. Most recently, as a partner in an international commercial law firm, he worked for major domestic and foreign energy companies on national and cross-border projects, where he advised on transactions, regulation and compliance.

“We are very pleased that with Gerd Stuhlmacher we have been able to win over a colleague who is optimally networked in the industry, also internationally, for the establishment and expansion of the energy law team at the Munich office,” said Dr Holger Stappert, Head of the Energy Industry Group at Luther. “With his proven special knowledge in energy trading, he also perfectly complements our team in Düsseldorf, which has increasingly advised on national and international investigations into market manipulation, insider and reporting violations under REMIT or REMIT compliance in recent years,” Stappert continues.
