Luther advises Fiege on its stake in an AI and Big Data start-up

Brussels/Greven/Münster - The FIEGE Group, a globally operating full-service logistics provider, has acquired further shares in the data analysis start-up Westphalia DataLab (WDL). The European Commission has cleared the transaction.

Background

WDL develops data science software solutions that use machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to increase the success of companies. In addition to its own Software as a Service (SaaS) products, such as fully automated "forecasting" solutions for forecasting product sales and reducing inventory and personnel costs, the start-up also provides data science and AI consulting to companies from all industries.

The FIEGE Group, whose registered office is in Greven, Germany, has been involved in the Münster-based start-up as a co-founder and strategic investor (so-called "seed investor") from the very beginning. Thanks to the support of the logistics company, which itself is one of WDL's customers, the start-up, which has been awarded several industry prizes, has been able to grow strongly within the first three years of its foundation.
