The shipyard is to be used in the future for the maintenance and repair of naval vessels in order to significantly increase the material readiness of the navy in the Baltic Sea region. The takeover of the shipyard by the Federal Government will create long-term employment prospects for up to 500 employees. The transaction thus also contributes to the stabilisation and upgrading of the regional business location.
