Brussels is an essential location for high-quality advice on antitrust and state aid law. Luther specialists have been working in the city for more than 20 years. We are an integral part of the Luther industry groups and the Antitrust Law Service Line. Our antitrust law practice covers preventive advice (compliance), defence against antitrust allegations, support in merger control proceedings in Germany and abroad, and the assessment and structuring of distribution systems and collaborations between competitors. In state aid law, we advise on a wide range of cases involving preventive appraisal and structuring, the preparation and monitoring of approval procedures before the European Commission, the defence of state aid structures in proceedings before German and European courts, and proceedings under the EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation. We also specialise in international trade law, in particular WTO law and EU anti-subsidy and anti-dumping law.

EU law in Brussels – added value for clients

Our proximity to the EU institutions, interest groups and advisors facilitates direct dialogue with stakeholders and decision-makers. Companies from Germany and abroad as well as state institutions rely on our expertise to navigate the regulations and procedures in antitrust law and state aid law, be it in the planning or implementation of projects or in defence before authorities and courts. Our presence and specialisation in Brussels represent our expertise and experience, which we use to the benefit of our clients:

  • Focus on German and EU law: bundling of knowledge and many years of experience in German and EU competition law. We have experience in projects involving multiple national legal systems and advise clients from various countries.
