Janis Rentrop advises German, European and international clients on asset management issues, as well as on matters pertaining to investment and insurance supervisory law. He advises providers and investors on regulated and unregulated domestic and foreign funds and other investment products. He further specialises in advising on the regulatory aspects of banking and securities services that are subject to authorisation.
Janis Rentrop has particular experience advising insurers/funds on ESG and sustainability issues, especially on the requirements that form part of the EU’s sustainable finance strategy (SFDR and EU Taxonomy, amongst others).
Janis Rentrop studied law in Cologne (Germany) and Paris (France). He holds a maîtrise en droit from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University and was admitted to the German Bar in 2020. Janis Rentrop has been a board member of Thermador Groupe SA near Lyon (France) since 2017. Prior to joining Luther in 2024, he worked for renowned international law firms in Cologne and Dusseldorf (Germany). Janis Rentrop is fluent in English and French.
