Background

Hansa Heavy Lift GmbH, based in Hamburg, is one of the world's leading heavy lift shipping companies. After the implementation of a restructuring plan had unexpectedly failed at the beginning of December, the company had to file for insolvency at short notice. A team from Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft provided legal support during the filing for insolvency and will continue to assist Hansa Heavy Lift during the insolvency proceedings.

Hansa Heavy Lift GmbH filed for insolvency on 10 December 2018. On December 11, 2018, the Hamburg Local Court - Insolvency Court then ordered provisional insolvency administration and at the same time clarified that this was the opening of main insolvency proceedings within the meaning of the EuInsVO (Regulation (EC) No. 2015/848).

The business operations of Hansa Heavy Lift GmbH, which was founded in 2011 and has grown into one of the world's leading heavy-lift cargo shipping companies within a very short period of time, are currently being continued without restriction with the support of the provisional insolvency administrator Dr. Christoph Morgen. At the same time, the parties are examining the possibility of short-term implementation of the already existing restructuring plan as part of the insolvency proceedings.
