Areas of practice

Pascal Brinkmann primarily advises European companies on investment projects in the Asia/Pacific region with a particular focus on Malaysia and Singapore. In addition to tax law, he specialises in the establishment of joint ventures and the regional structuring of corporate groups. Pascal Brinkmann is a board member of various companies based in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong and was officially appointed as trusted lawyer of the Austrian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia in 2018.


Pascal Brinkmann studied law at the University of Osnabrueck and completed his master´s degree in International Trade Law at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. Subsequently, he worked for an international law firm in Cologne and carried out his legal traineeship in Wellington/New Zealand and Sydney/Australia, among other places. He joined Luther in 2013. Pascal Brinkmann was further admitted to practise as Accredited Tax Practitioner (Income Tax) (Singapore) in 2017. Also in 2017, he became managing director of the Luther office in Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia.

  • Advised German optical sensor manufacturer on MYR 200 million investment in new plant in Bukit Rambai/Malaysia
  • Advised and assisted leading global franchised gym network with set up of fitness clubs in various countries in Southeast and East Asia
  • Advised German truck manufacturer in respect of JV shareholder dispute in Malaysia
  • Advised Swiss headquartered company from the aviation sector in JV dispute and subsequent share deal in Malaysia
  • Advised various European SMEs/MNCs in respect of factory construction and related topics in Malaysia
