Areas of practice

Pascal is a seasoned legal advisor with over a decade of experience in the Asia Pacific region, specialising in facilitating the entry and expansion of foreign investors into the ASEAN markets, particularly Malaysia and Singapore.

His expertise covers a wide range of investment-related matters, including company formations, cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and infrastructure investment projects. Foreign investors frequently seek his advice on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial, tax, employment, immigration, privacy and regulatory law.

Pascal also has a proven track record in advising international clients on a wide range of compliance and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. Committed to upholding values and protecting human rights, he has a deep understanding of the importance of ethical business practices and sustainability in today's global landscape. Most recently, he has advised several clients in Malaysia on their obligations under the new German Supply Chain Act (and potentially more stringent obligations under forthcoming EU legislation).

Pascal is a member of the board of directors and data protection officer of various companies based in Singapore and Malaysia, and acts as a lawyer of confidence (Vertrauensanwalt) for the Austrian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

Vita

Pascal studied law at the University of Osnabrück (Germany). After completing his studies in Germany, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of London (England). He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Law from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). Pascal completed his legal traineeship at the Oberlandesgericht Düsseldorf (Germany), with training periods in Wellington (New Zealand) and Sydney (Australia). At the same time, he worked as a research assistant for an English law firm in Cologne (Germany). After being admitted to the German Bar, Pascal started his legal career at Luther in Singapore, where he has been a registered foreign lawyer since 2013. At the beginning of 2017, he was also admitted as an Accredited Tax Practitioner (Income Tax) in Singapore. At the end of 2017, Pascal moved to Malaysia where he has since been in charge of managing and developing Luther's Kuala Lumpur office.
