Dr Madeleine Martinek specialises in general corporate law, international trade law and mergers and acquisitions with a particular focus on China-related projects. She advises on national and international acquisitions of companies and assists Chinese companies with their investments in Europe.
Dr Madeleine Martinek studied law at the University of Heidelberg (Germany). After passing her first state law exam, she successfully completed a Master’s programme (LL.M.) in “Chinese and comparative law” in Göttingen (Germany) and Nanjing (China) and then went on to obtain her doctorate for an English-language thesis on Chinese business law. Whilst at university and during her legal training in Berlin (Germany), Madeleine Martinek worked for international law firms in Shanghai (China), Johannesburg (South Africa) and San Francisco (USA). Before joining Luther, she was the head of the Legal Department of the German Chamber of Commerce in Peking (China) and then worked as an Assistant Professor at the China-EU School of Law in Peking. Madeleine Martinek speaks German, English, Chinese and French and is a regular author on Chinese law and international trade and arbitral procedural law.
