Luther cooperates with the Wittener Institut für Familienunternehmen

During the winter term 2015/16, Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH will conduct several workshops on trade and corporate law at the university Witten-Herdecke. It cooperates with university professor Dr. jur. habil. Katharina Uffmann, who holds the Chair for Law at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the renowned Institute for Family-run Businesses in the City of Witten (Wittener Institut für Familienunternehmen – WIFU).

The workshops will take place within the context of a lecture at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Arnd Becker, Partner at Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft, explains:

"Students gain first-hand practical insights: What are the legal, tax and economic framework conditions for business creation and further development? Which interests need to be considered and what are the consequences of entrepreneurial activities? What needs to be regulated at the interface between family and business? etc. Students benefit here in the direct exchange from our experience with a firm that specializes in advising family businesses using a comprehensive approach."

Prof. Dr. Katharina Uffmann is looking forward to the mutually beneficial cooperation:

"In their future professional lives, for example as founders, business leaders, advisors or partners, our students will face challenging legal behavioral requirements and have to be able to discuss them with their legal advisors. "Non-lawyers" especially often find these to be very abstract and impenetrable. So what's to be done? The magic word here is "Storytelling": By using workshops based on case studies, abstract "law" can be experienced and thus better learned.

In order to allow workshop participants to obtain a holistic overview about the life-cycle of a business they will be introduced not only to trade and commercial law but also to IP and copyright law, employment law, banking law and insolvency law.
