Matthias Mehlwitz, LL.M.

Matthias Mehlwitz is a member of Luther’s Service Line Real Estate. He primarily advises on the public procurement law aspects of structuring and implementing complex procurement projects and represents his clients’ interests in review proceedings before public procurement tribunals. In the area of EU state aid law, he especially advises municipalities and municipal undertakings on all matters relating to EU state aid law.

Matthias Mehlwitz studied law at the University of Münster (Germany). He then carried out his legal training at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf (Germany), which included training periods at the Rhineland Public Procurement Tribunal – Düsseldorf Panel and at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer (Germany), where he also successfully completed his LL.M. programme "State and Administration in Europe" in 2019. At the same time, he worked as a research assistant and then as a lawyer in a medium-sized business law firm. Matthias Mehlwitz was admitted to the German Bar in 2019 and joined Luther’s Essen office as a lawyer in 2020.
