Udo Wißwede

Udo Wißwede focuses on advising companies on all issues of individual and collective employment law. He regularly advises his clients on the employment law aspects of acquisitions and reorganisations. 

One of his main areas of practice is advising his clients on matters of corporate co-determination, in particular in negotiations on reconciliation-of-interests agreements and social compensation plans. In the context of corporate co-determination, Udo Wißwede advises shareholders on the structuring of co-determination in their companies. Udo Wißwede is regularly consulted in the resolution of complex manager separation processes. A further focus of his work is representation in court on issues relating to company pension schemes. He represents his clients before all German courts, including the German Federal Labour Court.

Employment Law

Udo Wißwede studied law in Göttingen (Germany) from 1979 to 1984. After passing his first state law exam, Udo Wißwede worked as a research assistant at the Institute for International Labour Law at the University of Göttingen before starting his legal training at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court of Hamburg (Germany) in 1985. From 1989 to 2014, he worked as a lawyer in a larger medium-sized supra-regional law firm, most recently as head of the “Labour Law” department. In 2014, he and his team moved to the law firm of one of the “Big Four”. Udo Wißwede joined Luther as Of Counsel in 2023.
