Ulrich Klemm’s advice focuses on structuring, negotiating and drafting contracts for international project financing and acquisition financing. He has extensive local knowledge of Latin America, in particular of Brazil. In addition, he also advises on investment protection law and how to safeguard against adverse political decisions as well as banking supervisory law.
Ulrich Klemm studied law in Berlin and Freiburg (Germany) and sat his second state exam in 1976 in Hamburg (Germany). He then worked as a legal advisor for a consultancy firm of the Dresdner Bank Group in Sao Paulo (Brazil) for four years. In 1981, he joined the legal department of DEG (DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH) as an in-house lawyer, where he initially advised on the structuring and drafting of contracts for international project financing in Latin America. In 2003 he was appointed General Counsel (Chefsyndikus) and head of the legal department.
