Simon Heetkamp studied law at the University of Münster (Germany) where he also at the same time completed a two-year training course in Anglo-American law and English legal language. During his studies, he also spent a semester studying at Bilkent University in Ankara (Turkey) via the Erasmus programme. As part of his legal training he worked for the German Embassy in The Hague (The Netherlands), a law firm in Tokyo (Japan) and an international corporate law firm. Simon Heetkamp obtained his doctorate from the EBS University for Business and Law (Germany) and from the Osnabruck University (Germany) with a thesis on the topic of online dispute resolution in cross-border consumer disputes. He received a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation for his doctorate. Alongside working on his doctorate, he successfully completed a training course to become a mediator and has now been included on the list of lawyer mediators by the Cologne Bar Association. He has worked for Luther since 2015.

Simon Heetkamp is a member of DIS40, the German Initiative of Young Arbitrators, and the ICC Young Arbitrator Forum (YAF). Another focus of his interest is the area of legal tech.

Simon Heetkamp has released numerous publications in the area of dispute resolution both in and out of court. Amongst other things, he contributed to the commentaries on the German Consumer Dispute Resolution Act (VSBG) and is the co-author of a chapter on Online Dispute Resolution in the Encyclopaedia on Private International Law.

Simon Heetkamp primarily advises on all matters pertaining to business, commercial and distribution law and dispute resolution both in and out of court. In addition to various banking law disputes, Simon Heetkamp has gained experience in accompanying court proceedings regarding tax consultant and managing director liability (in addition to previous out of court correspondence and conciliation proceedings).
