Cornelia Yzer was born in 1961. After studying law and business in Bochum and Münster (Germany), she commenced her professional career working for a group of companies from the chemical industry, where she dealt with environmental law issues. In 1990, she was admitted to the German Bar. Cornelia Yzer was a member of the German Bundestag and of the Legal Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag from 1990 to 1998 and, from 1992 on, worked as a Parliamentary State Secretary, last for the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology.
Starting in 1997, Cornelia Yzer was, for a period of 15 years, Chief Managing Director of the German Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa), a Member of the Board of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA). From 2012 to 2016, Cornelia Yzer was the State of Berlin’s Business, Technology and Research Senator.
Furthermore, she has been sitting on the supervisory and advisory boards of various companies and large research institutions since the 1990s.
Cornelia Yzer advises technology-based companies in regulatory matters. The focus of her advisory services is on the life science sector and on the digital economy.
