Bernhard Burkert was born in 1979. He studied law at the University of Potsdam from 2001 to 2006 and carried out his traineeship with secondments at large commercial law firms. After completing his traineeship, he studied for a year at the Stellenbosch University in South Africa, where he received a Master of Laws in International Trade Law. Bernhard Burkert is currently working on his doctoral studies which focus on environmental law. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as a research assistant in Luther's environmental and climate protection law department. Bernhard Burkert has worked for Luther as a lawyer since 2012.
Bernhard Burkert advises on public business law, in particular on environmental and climate protection law. He specialises in advising the operators of plants bound by emission trading laws on how to make allocation claims and how to prepare for the third trading period of the EU emissions trading scheme.
